Not bad news for those who would like to deduct the costs associated with telecommuting

In order to simplify the process for both taxpayers and businesses, the Canada Revenue Agency (“CRA”) will allow employees who will have worked from home in 2020 due to COVID-19 and who incur modest expenses to submit deductions of up to $ 400, based on hours worked at home, without having to track expenses in detail.

Generally, these people will not have to provide a signed form from their employer.

This measure will allow taxpayers to take advantage of the deductions to which they are entitled and to simplify the tax declaration process. The CRA will be sharing more information in the coming weeks.
